Autism Social Skills Interactive Activity Monster Talk with Cool Kid Responses {Special Education/ELL}

Suggested IEP Goal: Given a choice of up to 3 socially appropriate responses to negative statements, _______, will choose the correct response in 4 out of 5 opportunities by ______, 2014.

Many times our ASD kids may find it difficult to convey their feelings into a socially appropriate message. Others may view our kids as "rude" or of poor parenting when neither of these interpretations are correct. It may be hard for ASD kids to filter out
the "right" from the "wrong" when it comes to expressing their feelings to others. This 15 page" Monster Talk with Cool Kid Responses" interactive activity book provides some mighty negative "Monster Talk" that I have heard throughout the years in my ASD classroom. When provided with responses that reflect another person's feelings, along with appropriate responses, our students can see and hear what a negative comment sounds like and how it can be hurtful, rude, or demanding. This activity is a huge hit in our self-contained Autism Cluster classrooms with grades K-5!

Enjoy!

Debbie
