More details

Garage Sale is a life skill role playing math activity that helps students learn how to set up a sale, pricing, paying and making change, as well as communication skills. This is a valuable skill to learn for future employment as well as learning a skill that is used in schools that set up store shops and garage sales.

For activity, students lay items out and place cost cards on each item just like pricing at a garage sale. The students will use pricing posters as a guide on setting the right prices with the right items.
For activity, other students will shop for items and bring them to the cashier who will list them along with price on sales sheet. After sale is over the total sales can be added up to see how much was made during sale.

This can also be set up in the style of a thrift store. Provide class money to incorporate currency for full life skill experience.
Given a life skills work task which incorporates making a selection of goods and determining the cost and total budget, STUDENT will write ____ (# of) items in list form along with their predetermined price, in order to make a purchase and remain within budget, with 80% accuracy, over a 9 week period, by MONTH, YEAR (IEP end date).
This item is recommended for the following grade levels:

3rd Grade, 4th Grade, 5th Grade, 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade, 9th Grade, 10th Grade, 11th Grade, 12th Grade
