Given a picture/word card containing a C-V-C
(consonant/vowel/consonant) and lowercase letter cards, STUDENT will choose the correct letters to pronounce the letter sounds and blend it altogether to form the word, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 consecutive opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.

This activity meets the requirements for the following KINDERGARTEN COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS:

Craft & Structure:
RI.K.4 With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about unknown words in a text.

Print Concepts:
RF.K.1. Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print.
a. Follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page.
d. Recognize and name all lowercase letters of the alphabet.

Phonological Awareness:
RF.K.2. b. Count, pronounce, blend, and segment syllables in spoken words.
d. Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or C-V-C words).
