This Independent Learning Packet for Special Education focuses on reading skills most often addressed through IEP Goals for Early Readers in First Grade, Second Grade, or students learning reading skills at the Early Reader instructional level.

WHAT IS AN INDEPENDENT LEARNING PACKET?

An INDEPENDENT LEARNING PACKET includes 30 engaging worksheets or printables for students to complete with a greater level of independence both in the classroom, or at home for distance learning, or homework to practice learned skills.

CAN YOU DESCRIBE WHAT IS IN THE READING Same or Different:Comparisons with Pictures and Text PACKET FOR IEP GOAL PROGRESSION?

· 30 Engaging Worksheets with EASY TO RECORD DATA (for teacher or parent/guardian to complete!)

These worksheets include a picture for the student to color, 2 to 4 sentences stating a comparison or difference between the characters or objects, and one “WH” quesiton with 2 response choices.

· Student will compare the pictures and text to determine what is the “same” or “different”. Since this task is intended for beginners, visual support is provide for most responses and the questions and answers are intentionally brief.

· SUGGESTED IEP GOALS to align with your students’ learning needs.

(1.) Given two pictures and up to four sentences of text, STUDENT will determine what is “the same” or “not the same” (different), in order to provide a comparison, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.


(2.) Given two pictures showing details that are also provided with the 2 to 4 sentence text, STUDENT will provide a response to one question asking, “What is the same?” or “What is different?”, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.


(3.) Given two pictures and up to three sentences, STUDENT will independently color the picture, read the text, and answer one question, to complete the task within an allotted amount of time, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.
