A Subitizing for Number Sense and counting up to 25 Task Cards “Task Box Filler” for Special Education, early intervention, autism, and resource students.

This subitizing task card set represents numbers up to 25 using a variety of presentations (line/array/circle/scattered arrangement) with “dots”. The simplicity of the object “dot” trains the student’s visual gaze towards the item to be counted or identified.

WILL THIS TAKE A LOT OF PREP TIME?

Oh, no! Just print the pages (4 cards to a page), laminate and trim. Your student will mark each box with “how many” using a thin dry erase marker. Easy to wipe and reuse for years! Your students are ready to begin!

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

· 25 Subitizing Task Cards (Number Sense/Counting for 1:1 Correspondence)

· Data Sheet for IEP documentation

· IEP Goals and Task Box Label

· Print this entire activity on white card stock paper and laminate for durability that will last many years.

HOW WILL THIS ACTIVITY HELP MY STUDENTS LEARN THIS MATH SKILL?

This may truthfully be the most entertaining skill for a child to learn, but it is an extremely important one. Counting “how many” in a variety of ways, builds up to recognizing that 4 dots means “4”. This leads to mastery of one-to one correspondence, and later skills, such as addition. This activity is not designed to be “fancy”, rather effective for your students.

I HAVE KIDS IN MY CLASS THAT HAVEN’T REACHED THIS SKILL YET. HOW CAN I HELP THEM UNDERSTAND?

For students who are learning to count, you or the assistant may provide verbal, visual, or even hand-over-hand prompts, if needed. Limit to learning “how many” up to 3 and continue as the student progresses. Continued practice and repetition will help your students learn and retain this counting skill.

SUGGESTED IEP GOALS For Special Education Students:

Given a picture containing an array, line, circle, or scattered arrangement of up to 25 dots, STUDENT will demonstrate number sense/one-to-one correspondence by saying/writing “how many”, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.

DO YOU HAVE A SELECTION OF “Task Box Fillers” THAT I CAN CHOOSE FROM?

Yes! There are more than 100 sets available, which include, math, reading, fine motor, social skills, science, social studies and life skills!

CAN I SHARE THIS TASK CARD SET WITH OTHER TEACHERS?

None of our activities can be shared with other staff members due to copyright laws and licensing rules. You CAN suggest that they purchase their very own set, or you may purchase an additional license for them.
