Social Story: Social Story GOING ON AN AIRPLANE for Autism/Special Education

With summer quickly approaching and vacations being planned, many of our students will experience flying on an airplane for the first time. This 18 page social story has bright, colorful pictures showing what it is like once you get to the airport, lining up at the ticket counter, going through security, watching suitcases being loaded onto the plane, and the onboard experience. If the student is a reader, have them read the story. If they are early readers, have an adult read it to them. They may ask questions and that is wonderful. We want our young flyers to be less fearful of the flying experience. Ask your student questions about the text and pictures to demonstrate comprehension. Have a safe flight!

SUGGESTED IEP GOAL ALIGNMENT:
Given a social story in order to prepare for an upcoming event or situation, STUDENT will read/listen to the story and acknowledge understanding by responding to related questions, in 4 out of 5 consecutive opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.

Thank you!

Debbie
