This Special Education Distance Learning NO PRINT digital interactive IDENTIFYING AN EVENT IN TEXT reading skills activity focuses on developing sentence comprehension. With real life pictures and the question, "WHAT WILL HAPPEN?", student engagement increases with decreasing prompts, as they "click" the correct written response (the response can be found word for word within the text). This digital reading activity can be used in the classroom as an independent digital learning tool, or in the home for distance learning, homeschooling, or homework.
· Just download to your desktop, smartphone, iPad or tablet! You MUST have the free version of Adobe Reader installed. You will have the activity ready at your fingertips! The student will "click" on the response. If it is correct, it will move the student forward. If the student response is incorrect, he or she is redirected back.
· YES! As well as using as an independent work task, this activity can be expanded upon to reinforce independent work skills related to a life skills or safety skills lesson or task. It is suggested that the student completes the activity on a computer or tablet where he or she can engage with the teacher, family member, or guardian.
Absolutely! Here is a suggested IEP Goal that may be aligned with this activity:
1. Given a picture and up to three sentences, STUDENT will read to choose the correct response when asked to predict, "What will happen?", as identified within the passage, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.
